I promise I’m not one bit grumpy I’ve just been really annoyed by the following 2 things while traveling around seattle lately.

The first one is people riding their bicycles on the sidewalks. I could sit here and argue the fact that the streets make cyclists safer from turning vehicles and such…. or I could argue that there are bike lanes made specifically for bicycles that run all throughout this city and even trails made specifically for you… but most importantly, isn’t running a pedestrian off the sidewalk a parallel to you being afraid of a car doing that to you on the road? If you’re not comfortable enough on your bike to ride it down the street, travel a less busy street or stay home. Sidewalks are for people.

My second pet peeve admitedly has a gray area that the eye cannot nessecarily determine but I’ve noticed an increased amount of people request the lift on the bus for no other reason than they seem overweight and lazy. I’m sorry if you sincerely need it and I know there’s people out there that do… but these others are just slowing down the buses and making us all late.

Wow, I really do sound grumpy… again I promise I am not.

;)

This is more of a repost from bikebloc.com – which, if you live in Seattle, and you like bikes, you should read. BikeBloc has been a large supplier of my fun lately…

Emerald Sprints I am SUPER excited about and think there’s some amazing stuff on the horizon for them. This is just as much a spectator event as it is a bike event!

Its 8:20 in the morning on a SATURDAY and I am already up and showered. I have a very busy day of running around and collecting the voting cans from Beard & Stache Fest. Collecting is the easy part, its the counting that I think will take forever… but at the end of the day we expect to have a winner.

That said, I hope to see everyone Sunday night at the High Dive for the big Awards Event. I promise it will be a lot of fun.

I need coffee.

i totally fail

I’ve been making small posts all week from this new application on my phone and I was super excited to be “twif”ing again until I just realized that all of those posts have apparently just disappeared into internet land and that that fancy android app isn’t quite what it said it would be.

Lesson learned: if its not broke, don’t fix it

This past Sunday was the first annual Beard & Stache Dash. A two wheeled event for bicycles, mopeds and scooters. It was a points race that was part scavenger hunt, part alley cat.

As the event organizers, Jen and I didn’t have the opportunity to participate but we both had an amazingly good time and it seems that everyone that raced had a great time. Thank you to everyone who cam out and made this such a success. I’m still in disbelief over the tattoos and the fountain swimming in 48 degree weather. The whole day [or possibly the bloody marys] gave me a warm fuzzy feeling.

And, yes, we will be doing it again.

Last night we officially kicked off Beard & Stache fest with great success!  Thanks to Blue C Sushi in Fremont for graciously hosting the event, thanks to DJ Temporary Secretary for the evening’s entertainment, and thanks to all the facial hair enthusiasts that made it all possible!  The fierce competition continues with Mustache Mondays, Facial Hair Fridays, the Mustache Dash, and a friendly game of wiffle ball.  Check the website’s calendar for details!

Today, the TWIF team took a tour-de-Seattle and delivered the voting cans to their new homes for the next month so be sure to to visit one (or many!) of the 20 voting locations throughout the month of February to vote on your favorite furry face.  If getting out and about is not your bag, or you’re not a Seattlite, don’t fret!  Voting can also be accomplished online – just be sure to indicate who you’re voting for so the facially haired fellow of your choice gets credit for your donation.  Hope to see you (and your beard/stache!) at the upcoming events of Beard and Stache Fest!

Normally Jen and I don’t post when we haven’t had much going on as posting about day-to-day stuff seems pretty booooring but just in case you were wondering where we went…. we’ve been almost too busy!

We’re putting together BeardandStacheFest.com which kicks off next Sunday, February 1st at Blue C Sushi in Fremont. We’d love to meet you there! The next month is sure to be insanely fun and exciting and I’m pretty sure we’ll have tons of material to tell you about! Until then…
